(Part­-time 12 months’ fixed­-term)

CCS Disability Action is a community organisation that has provided support for disabled people and their families for over 75 years, ensuring disabled people have a positive life and are connected to and included within their local communities. CCS Disability Action is committed to the Treaty of Waitangi and EEO principles.
 
We are looking for a Community Support Co-ordinator to join our team. This is a new fixed-term part-time (minimum 20 hours per week) position to be located within the Queenstown Lakes or Central Otago area.

The Co-ordinator will coordinate our Rural Carer Support service to provide families of children and young people with disabilities suitable short breaks. He/she will promote the Carer Support service, recruit volunteer Carers and Buddies, undertake appropriate vetting of these volunteers, and train and supervise them. Carers and Buddies will then be matched with families.

In addition children, young people and adults with disabilities who require support from CCS Disability Action will be provided with a range of individualised, flexible and responsive services which meet their needs and allow them to be included in the every day life of their family and community.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Experience working in a social services agency, and in particular working with disabled children/youth/adults, their families/whanau and significant others.
  • Networking skills and an in-depth knowledge of government, non-government and private sector services available within the community.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • In-depth understanding of the person/family, person centred planning and community development concepts.
  •  A commitment to providing quality customer services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and government policies.
  • Experience of reporting to service contracts.
  • A full, clean driver’s licence.
